He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. 2 Timothy 1:9
Remember when you were a kid how excited you got when it rained outdoors and how you excitedly put on your boots and raincoat to run outdoors to take it in? Remember, how you would point your face upward with your tongue hanging out just so you could take in those raindrops? To a child, those raindrops meant memories that would last a lifetime. To a grown-up how quickly do we forget that when it rains that too can be a blessing- instead we are filled with visions of tornadoes, wind damage and insurance payouts?
When life's storms enter our lives and we 'cry' out to our God, we can be assured that He hears us. God loves us when we call out his name in the most wrenching of circumstances. Our storms become a reminder of how near God is to us- that he will never forsake you, nor abandoned you.
When Jesus Christ took his final breath his words 'It Is Finished' was a reminder to all of us He has paid the penalty of us all so that we can all experience assurance of our own salvation.
Life isn't easy when our loved ones die and God understands that more than we might think. Through Jesus, he opens up the line of communication that allows us to 'cry' out to Him when we're in pain.
When loved ones die, our life's mission doesn't end with their death. Our mission is to continue living by trusting God that he knows how to process our pain- and to share the good news that God truly loves them and desires to have them experience forgiveness, grace, and assurance of salvation.
