When I first began my journey in December 2019 I weighed 57 pounds more than I do now while also finding out that I had out of control type 2 diabetes with an average glucose level in the 190 range. In addition I was told that I had high blood pressure. When my retina detached and I had surgery on Christmas eve by a doctor that would find is world known for this type of operation I knew that my God came through for me.
On Christmas day, I would find out from this specialist that the surgery was a success and now we wait for the healing to take place. I knew this doctor did a miracle, but that I had to take personal responsibility for my health by following a prescription of Metformin for the diabetes, and taking a blood pressure medicine. I added two other things into my daily routine which was I went on a 30 day fast from all added sugar and I dusted off my Schwinn Airdyne bike and began a daily (including weekends) riding for an hour while watching a home remodeling show.
I noticed as I continue to drop my weight and saw much of my body turn into muscle that my glucose levels also dropped. This morning for example, my overnight glucose level was just 111 which is a far cry from the 180's I typically saw.
I'm thankful for my Lord Jesus Christ for helping me with getting my body which is also the temple He resides in in shape. I'm also thankful for my bride of 32 years for standing by my side and cheering me on every step of my journey. I'm thankful for my son and his beautiful bride for their prayers of support on my journey.
Today at 1:30, Dr. B. will take out the oil bubble using a syringe and replacing a gas bubble in it's place. I must lie face down for 3 days and at the end of that time period I will be able to resume normal activity. As the gas bubble dissolves I will be able to see clearly and use my left eye much better without the Crisco oil effect.
I believe the detached retina was a wake up call for me that got me to get serious about my health. This week I learned that my new A1C test revealed a new rating of 6.5 which is significantly lower than the dangerous level of 10.5 I owe this victory to my living savior, Jesus Christ!
If you are struggling with health problems I urge you to make a appointment with your doctor to get some blood workup done and then have a candid conversation with your physician about how to attack those problems. He or she has your back and they want you to stay healthy and well
