This is a powerful scene from Archie Bunker upon the death of his beloved Edith

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.” Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

The death of a loved one is a profound experience of which most of us aren't prepared to face until it happens to them.

As the initial shock wears off one's emotions begin to take over. The words Archie uses as he laments the loss of his wife are universal words all of us use with our losses.

Recovery from loss is unique to the individual suffering from the loss that there is no set formula to follow until grief's completion. The length of this jounrey also differs from person to person.

The intensity of the pain one feels is a reflection of the love you had with the person who died.

As we travel this road, most will see a closer connection to the God that made them. They will sense a deeper connection to God and his redeeming son, Jesus Christ.

As they reflect on God's word, they will realize that heaven is real and they will see their loved one again.

The loss of a loved one is often a moment most will recommit their lives to the Savior, most likely because God is drawing near to them.

There is hope for those struggling with the anger and all of the extreme emotions of their loss.

The hope I'm referring to is to find a Griefshare group where you can share the story of your loved one with supportive people who too are suffering their own grief.

The hope grows as you watch the 13 week sessions by nationally known speakers with sensible advice to help you with your journey.

The hope is ingrained with your workbook lessons and your journaling. Some of you who have lost loved ones may relate to Archie's feelings as he reminences over his beloved Edith.
