You are called to be repairers of broken walls- Isaiah 58: 12

Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings. Isaiah 58:12

I can honestly say that being a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ is the most exciting thing anyone can do in their life. To think that when you accept Christ into your heart you can also have the power of God's holy spirit where he becomes our good shepherd to help you stay on the right pathway even when bad things happen. My faith in Jesus Christ began in the early spring of 1974. I was a senior in high school who like all young people was confused about the future. It was in 1973 that the Minnesota State legislature reduced the drinking age to18. This was probably the stupidest law they ever passed because many young people were killed in drunken driving accidents. I remember the Friday evening at the Minnetonka Coffee house. I heard stories of salvation, as well as testimonies of how this Jesus helped them through some difficult times. It was just a few years earlier that two classmates of mine were electrocuted one evening as they sat above one of the local businesses in the Minnetonka Mills area. I remember how profound these two deaths left us. Up until now many of us had envision that we would outlive our parents, not the other way around. For the first time we felt powerless and realize that it was possible for a young person to die. I was of course moved by the invitation to accept Christ and so I prayed the salvation prayer popularized by Billy Graham.

The other night I watched a Ray Vaaderlaan episode titled, 'a well watered garden'. In this video he talked about the descending wall made up of stones that kept the sudden rains from rushing away the soil all the way down to the neighbor below. He said that when one neighbor saw that the neighbor's wall below was threatened he would grab some stones and shore up the gaps in the wall. Isaiah reminds us that we are called to be repairers of broken walls. The power of God's holy spirit helps us be the wall builders we need to be. When I think of wall building, I think of the profound pain that comes from losing a loved one. It is when we enter grief and sorrow that our brain becomes scrambled and we forget to do the essential things we use to be able to do before the loss occurred.

I encourage you to watch this stimulating video as I believe it will strengthen your faith. Please remember and honor the day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord of your life. Your life certainly changed because of Jesus Christ taking up residence in your life.
